Thanks to many years of experience in various fields of application of seat belts, Sabelt is the only ones able to design, manufacture, sell occupant restraint systems suitable for different types of vehicles, not only cars. Sabelt recently created a business unit dedicated to the application of restraint systems in markets such as military, aeronautic, RVI and aerospace.

TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER

Technology sharing among analogous applications is one of the fields identified for business sustainability. It allows for the transfer of know-how from one sector to another, reducing tooling costs, investment and development time while allowing for solutions using components that are proven and safe. This is how Sabelt approached adjacent markets. i.e. implementation of straps for space, restraint systems and aeronautical belts based on the availability of products already qualified by Sabelt for automotive and motorsport (STD ECE16 or FIA8853-2016), where safety and resistance targets are very similar to those required for aerospace and in special applications.

SPACE

Thanks to the quality of experience in engineering and manufacturing of safety belts and lightweight components, Sabelt builds restraint systems for the aerospace environment, especially for cargo applications.

Since 2010, Sabelt has been the supplier of Thales Alenia Space Italia for the restraint systems of the Cygnus Orbital-ATK module (belts and nets).
Thanks to our extensive experience in safety, we have been able to reduce the mass of the restraint systems of the space loading module up to 40% of its original weight (about 100 kg of mass reduction obtained thanks to highly technological materials and new geometric designs). We also extended our product portfolio for space by developing new foams used in space operations to optimize cargo storage.

AVIATION

Sabelt designs and produces specific seat belts for aircraft cockpits, a niche market where weight is critical.
All components carried over are competition parts to guarantee the maximum level of safety.

MILITARY

Sabelt is currently a supplier of land armored vehicles where the seat/safety belts systems help to reach impressive protection targets. Experience in competition cars where materials are tested at over 60Gs, make the construction of these unique safety belts possible.

Military safety belts are tested under the most severe environmental conditions: from saline mist, to sand, mud or immersed in water to simulate fords. At the same time, they must resist to explosion tests, in which a mine is blown right under the vehicle floor.

Moreover our expertise in building straps and nets is applied to military cargo and rescue vehicles, including helicopters and aircrafts.

Sabelt – Racing World, Original Equipment Manufacturing, special Application seatbelts

A team of design engineers develops high-tech seat belts for ultra-light carbon monocoque racing seats, used by major racing teams in the world.

From the 70s until today Sabelt has launched products that have consistently combined know-how and innovation, design and lightness, linked intrinsically to the world of Formula 1. In 1982 and 1988, the Formula 1 champions Keke Rosberg and Ayrton Senna won with Sabelt belts, and other great drivers such as Nelson Piquet, Alain Proust, Nigel Mansell, Eddie Irvine, Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher have raced safely with their cars equipped with our belts.

Today also the winner of the world championship of Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton, has been racing with us. We have been developing numerous partnerships with historical teams such as Ferrari, Red Bull F1, McLaren, Toro Rosso, Hyundai (WRC), Abarth, Jaguar, Renault and Alfa Romeo, and for the most important championship in the world such us F1, NASCAR, World Rally Championship (WRC) and Endurance racing.
