SABELT AND LEONARDO UNVEILED THE NEW ULTRA-LIGHT HELICOPTER SEAT
Sabelt and Leonardo, an Italian company operating in the defence, aerospace and security sectors, have unveiled an innovative helicopter seat with an integrated harness, one of the lightest in the world. The project was developed within Leonardo’s “Crescere Insieme” (“Growing Together”) program, which aims to strengthen the Italian vertical flight supply chain and enhance national technological excellence.
Entirely designed and manufactured in Italy, and leveraging technologies derived from motorsport and aerospace, the new seat redefines the industry’s weight and safety standards by integrating high-performance composite materials and an advanced design focused on ergonomics and pilot protection.
The collaboration includes the design and supply of pilot, co-pilot, and passenger seats for Leonardo’s main helicopter platforms, fully compliant with the latest EASA (ETSO) safety standards.
The event was attended by representatives of institutions and the industrial community, who recognized this partnership as a virtuous example of collaboration between high-tech Italian companies.
With this project, Sabelt strengthens its diversification into the aerospace sector, confirming its role as an international benchmark in the design of high-performance seating systems for the mobility of the future.
