We're proud to unveil a new competition seat that aims to be a game changer in the circuits worldwide: it's called Spine and it's simply revolutionary, mostly because it's predictive.

Since the introduction of the new FIA 8855-2021 approval for safety standards, the strength of a seat is judged on the ability of its shell to withstand an impact both to the rear and laterally protecting the driver in the event of an accident. The total forces inflicted on the seats during the testing phase are around two tonnes to the most vital areas involved in a crash: lumbar, center of the back, neck, but also the the pelvis region, shoulders and both sides of the head. These new standards are considerably closer to the 8862-2009 homologation, the very highest seat safety standard approved by the FIA so far.

Sabelt faced this challenge not standing by and decided to completely distinguish its product adopting a unique strategy, becoming the first company 100% aligned to the new FIA guidelines by building a seat completely from scratch.

In order to exploit the technical values of Sabelt's three most competitive seats (Taurus, GT-630H and GT-621), our engineers explored new ergonomic sections and put all their efforts in creating the ultimate seat for competitive driving.

Beside the impressive standards of technique and performance that make Sabelt outstanding, what makes Spine truly innovative is the coexistence of high-experienced technical features with an aesthetic improvement never seen before in a competitive seat.

The most remarkable innovation is the double-mould construction technology: the aesthetic care of the fiberglass shell is not only compelling on the outside but also in the inside of the structure, as it can be appreciated if you look at the visible parts not covered by foam and fabric pads. On the outside of the shell, this new technology also allows the Sabelt logo to be embossed, as well as specific structural lines that remind a human spine.

Another special feature is the shell's structure. Numerous holes guarantee breathability and lightness. The seatbelt holes on the top are large and attractively shaped, while the side ones are perfectly aligned to the whole design of the seat. Same for the backrest, that has to be the strongest and the most breathable Sabelt's ever.

But there's more to discover: in addition to the embroidered Sabelt logo on the headrest, side tabs have been introduced to hold the pads more firmly to the shell during the entry and the exit. To make it more affordable by more vehicles as possible, we have developed new universal rails and two new types of brackets (one with an external floor fixing point and a less bulky one with an internal floor fixing point) that make this seat adaptable from different cars.
