OUR PRESIDENT AND CEO GIORGIO MARSIAJ IN-DEPTH INTERVIEWED BY CORRIERE DELLA SERA
From F1 to Space: Next Sabelt goal? Pointing to the sky by expanding Sabelt into the space economy and aviation
Giorgio Marsiaj, Sabelt CEO and Chairman, as well as president of the Industrial Union of Turin, has been recently interviewed by Corriere della Sera to talk about the perspective on Sabelt future scenarios.
Sabelt wants to aim high and expand into the space economy and aviation: an extension that has already begun. By attending the most important aerospace shows worldwide and organizing a Tech Day at the Houston Space Center, Sabelt is increasingly part of several appointments dedicated to the theme of space. In this in-depth interview, Giorgio Marsiaj faces the topic of this growth project supported by his sons Massimiliano Marsiaj and Gregorio Marsiaj, both vice-presidents of Sabelt.
Two Sabelt plants are already existing in Moncalieri with a focus on the production of Motorsport products and sports seats for luxury cars, but the company is working on the creation of a third plant to reorganize the structure and possibly expand the production of the aerospace products. It's forthcoming, and it will be operational within the year.
"In the last five years," added Marsiaj, "we have doubled the number of employees. Today we employ around 350 people, but the goal is to exceed 400 in 2024'.
Giorgio Marsiaj, and Sabelt with him; supply six out of ten Formula 1 teams and provide seats to brands of the calibre of Ferrari, Aston Martin, McLaren, Maserati, and more. Since the last years, it has widened the horizons starting to manufacture seatbelts for Thales Alenia and space missions, plus special safety belts for the Airbus crew.
After the sectorial slowdown due to Covid, today Sabelt is investing, thinking about acquisitions, landing in North America and growing in Europe and China. In a nutshell, Sabelt is running; with the sky being the next target. The goal today? To expand into the space economy and aviation with a line of lightweight composite seats as well. Seatbelts for aerospace, straps, nets, foam supports, cargo transfer bags storage and space bricks are products lines already launched.
