FORMULA SAE ITALY: XVIII EDITION OF THE EDUCATIONAL EVENT ORGANISED BY ANFIA AND SPONSORED BY SABELT
Thousands of students from engineering schools worldwide competed designing vehicles in different categories.
In the heart of the Emilian motor valley, the Formula SAE Italy 2023 event took place from the 12th to the 16th July.
During these four days, students from all over the globe challenged each other at the Autodromo 'R. Paletti' in Varano de' Melegari in a contest involving the conception of cars in different categories.
1,600 students from 20 different countries represented 56 university teams competing in four categories: the largest was the electric car class (Class 1E), with 30 participating teams, the second was the internal combustion car class (Class 1C) with 22 teams, then the driverless class (Class 1D) -both electric and combustion cars- with 8 teams and the Class 3 (project presentation, without prototype) with 5 teams.
In addition to the internationality of the event which stimulated the confrontation between students with totally different backgrounds, the participants competed in a unique experience that enhanced both their hard and their soft skills.
Sabelt was one of the influential sponsors and partners, eager to support young talents passionate about the automotive world in the design and realisation of a prototype.
The prototype to realize was a single-seater racing car with particular technical and economic constraints destined to eventual commercialisation.
During the event, the teams faced static tests such as Design Event, Business Presentation Event and Cost Event, and dynamic track tests such as Acceleration, Skid Pad, Autocross, Endurance and Trackdrive.
The aim of the challenge was to reward the expertise acquired by the students in terms of engineering knowledge, commitment, organisation, adherence to deadlines, design coordination and product presentations.
The winner in the Electric Cars Class was the WHZ Racing Team from Germany. The other three categories (Internal combustion car class, Driverless class and Class 3) brought to the podium 3 Italian teams from the Universities of Padua, Naples and Rome .
Sabelt, while having a great history and a strong sense of tradition, cares about the younger generation, and is proud to take an active role in this event to give students the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and to dream big.
