SABELT RACES WITH THE NEW FERRARI HYPERCAR IN THE 2023 WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP
The historical Turin-based brand teams up with the new Ferrari 499P, waiting for the iconic 100th edition of the 24h of Le Mans.
Sabelt will support Ferrari in the World Endurance Championship. On the strength of an already long and fruitful collaboration, the Turin-based company will accompany the Prancing Horse in its new sporting adventure. Ferrari is back fighting for outright victory after 50 years to its last appearance, with the new LMH-category 499P hypercar.
The brand logo will be featured on the livery of the 499P number 50, driven by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen, and of number 51, driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi.
Furthermore, Sabelt will supply Ferrari - AF Corse with drivers' racewear and seatbelts.
Retro look, maximum performance
The racing suits were designed with close collaboration and creative direction of the Ferrari Lifestyle team. They reflect the livery of the hypercar with a clear homage to the Ferrari 312 PB: the classic red body and the characteristic longitudinal yellow band on the front. The suits have new pleated aesthetic elements on the pelvis, back and knees, and come in two different designs: a simpler one for testing - in order to avoid revealing the official look - and one for the race.
Sabelt will also supply the drivers' shoes. These will be a Zero Gravity model made from the same lightweight and breathable fabric used for the suits. The new shoes are the lightest racing products on the market and have been completely customised to match the colours of the rest of the racewear. Every pair has been developed directly from the mould of the drivers' feet to offer a 100% bespoke product, guaranteeing maximum comfort and top performances.
The underwear (white for racing and black for testing) and the Hero Superlight TG-10 gloves complete the drivers' equipment. These are also 100% customised. They represent the top of the range, featuring external seams, a pre-curved design, padding at palm height, elastic wrists and silicone inserts for a better grip on the steering wheel.
Sabelt will also provide mechanics racewear: customised suits and the new Laser TG-3 gloves with a reinforced back to protect against impacts and leather inserts on the fingers and palm for maximum grip.
Ultralight and tailor made seatbelts
The collaboration between Ferrari and Sabelt in the Endurance programme also extends to the supply of seatbelts for the 499P hypercar. Sabelt has designed an ultralight product that, thanks to component optimisation, weighs 500 grams less than a standard seatbelt. It is characterised by a vectran belt, black anodised aluminium adjusters, titanium tongues and a special “endurance” buckle in billet aluminium whose design speeds up the insertion of tongues.
The seatbelt has been developed in completely customised sizes. It is calibrated specifically to the physique of the drivers who will sit behind the wheel of the Ferrari 499P hypercar. To optimise weight and design, Sabelt carried out a meticulous percentile-based study that allowed each individual component to be positioned in the best possible way.
