The new Ferrari 488 Pista Spider has been unveiled during the world-famous Concours d’Elegance® at Pebble Beach in California.
The new supercar is the 50th convertible car of the company history. It has the lowest weight power ratio in a droptop at 1.92 kg/Cv (or about 4.22 pounds per horsepower) and the most powerful engine of the market (the Ferrari V8, named Best Engine in the world for the third year at the 2018 International Engine of the Year Award).
At first glance, it reminds the distinctive design of the coupé version but with a pronounced racing spirit. Completely realized with lightweight components and materials, bodywork and interiors, it combines the power of a 720 CV with a dry weight of only 3,035 pounds: there are carbon-fibre and Alcantara® seats made by Sabelt, carpets replaced by patterned aluminum foot plates and a simple strap as driver’s-side door handle.
The driving experience has been improved thanks to the new lateral dynamics control system ad the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer (FDE) which makes the driving controllable and safe.
And, for this occasion, Ferrari made way also to an unconventional light color and a central blue livery instead of the distinctive red to “recalls the movement of the airflow and exalts the lines of the car”.
